There is no better time to explore Whistler Creekside than this winter! Winter in Whistler is a magical time. With snow covering the ground from the valley floor to the highest peak it feels like you are living in a winter wonderland. One of the most magical places in Whistler to explore in the winter is Creekside. With fewer people than the village, ample parking options and the easy access of the valley trail it is the perfect spot to spend the day exploring. We have put together a few of our favourite ways to explore Whistler Creekside this winter.
1.Explore Whistler Creekside Outside
If you are exploring Creekside this winter on foot make sure to wear snow boots! The valley trail is cleared of snow by can still be icy. You can also explore Alpha Lake Park or Nita Lake by foot with the help of snowshoes. The addition of snowshoes to your snow boots will allow you to walk easily through deep snow and is a good workout too! If downhill skiing is not your type of fun, try snowshoes! Guests of Nita Lake Lodge are provided with complimentary rentals of snowshoes during the winter.
If you like to ride bikes then you have to try riding a fat bike. These bikes are specially designed for riding in the snowy winter months with fat tires proving more stability than your typical ride. If you are a guest at Nita Lake Lodge, take advantage of the complimentary snow bike rentals that are new this winter!
On The Ice
The quintessential Canadian experience is ice skating on a frozen lake during the winter. Nita Lake Lodge is Whistler’s only lakefront property and has easy access to one of the best locations for ice skating. If you are planning to take advantage of the ice while you visit Whistler this winter, remember to bring your skates as there are no rentals available for skating on lakes in Whistler. As always, it is important to check the depth of the ice before venturing out on the lake. Those adventurous people that venture out onto the ice do so at their own risk.
No visit to Whistler is complete without a visit to Whistler Blackcomb. Take advantage of the Creekside Gondola which will whisk you up the mountain in style. When your day is done ride all the way back down to Creekside to enjoy a well earned après session.
