Are you trying to stay healthy this holiday season? With holiday parties, dinner and treats surrounding us during this time of year it is easy to get off track. How can one possibly escape the temptation? Making small changes can go a long way to staying on a healthy track. Here are a few of our favourite ways to have a healthy holiday season…
1. Go Plant-Based
We are lucky that being vegetarian or vegan these days no longer means only eating salad for dinner. With many people choosing a plant-based diet for health or humane reasons, chefs have begun to offer delicious plant-based alternatives. Here at Nita Lake Lodge, in the Aura Restaurant, holiday guests will have a full vegetarian three-course dinner with vegan substitutions also available. Vegetarian and vegan options will continue to be available through the year so that we are able to support healthy dining options.
In the Fix Café, a continued focus will be on offering healthy options from freshly made juices to specialty hot beverages such as turmeric lattes or ginger lemon tea.
2. Go Play Outside
While the winter months can be chilly with warm fireplaces calling you to stay inside, there are so many fun ways to play outside when there is snow on the ground! From snowshoeing to fat bikes and even ice skating you don’t have to take a chairlift to enjoy winter sports in Whistler.
Guests of Nita Lake Lodge can take advantage of complimentary use of snowshoes or Fat Bikes to explore while enjoying the winter in Whistler. Nita Lake is also a popular ice skating destination in the winter months. Please note that although the lake is right on our doorstep, we do not provide ice skates to guest and caution those adventurous to go out on the lake that it is at their own risk. For a family-friendly ice skating location, complete with rentals, we suggest checking out the free and fun outdoor ice rink at the Whistler Olympic Plaza.
3. Start New Traditions
Holiday parties are everywhere with a different excuse to indulge in food and drink over many days during the festive season. This year, start a new tradition by embracing the New Year with activity. From a snowy winter walk to a mindful yoga practice with our friends at Loka Yoga, the possibilities for a healthy holiday season are endless. How will you celebrate the beginning of the New Year?
Whatever you decide to fill your festive season with we wish you a healthy holiday season and happy 2018. If you need help booking your Whistler accommodation this winter, connect with our reservations team by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 604.966.5700.
