Snow in Whistler is the stuff of legend. The resort receives an annual dump of 11.9 metres (38.9 feet) with November and March identified as the two highest yielding months.
At the date of publishing, however, Ullr has clearly been distracted and the snow in Whistler is somewhat preoccupied. Whistler Blackcomb opened November 28th as scheduled but you may be interested in learning about some other activities available to you. So we thought we’d put together a handy list of things to do while waiting for snow in Whistler.
Things To Do While Waiting For Snow In Whistler
Aside from doing your best snow dance, there’s a huge variety of activities to keep you occupied throughout U.S. Thanksgiving and into December. Some of our faves include:
Head to Cougar Mountain and take flight with Superfly Ziplines. They have bragging rights to two of Canada’s longest ziplines at over 1km long, 200m high and reaching speeds of 100km/hour! We’d recommend allowing up to three hours for your trip, which will take you from mountain to mountain to mountain to mountain. Top tip: book now while prices are $30 off!
Vallea Lumina Winter Night Walk
The hugely popular multimedia night walk embarks on its first-ever winter experience this year. Expect the unexpected with incredible lights, lasers, holograms and more as you navigate the intriguingly immersive trail. Vallea Lumina is not just for children or families – in fact, we’d recommend it to almost anyone! Top tip: wrap up warm – Vallea Lumina is a night experience and you’ll be thankful for remembering your gloves and toque.
Viessman Luge World Cup
We don’t need snow in Whistler to get winter sports underway. The Viessmann Luge World Cup returns to Whistler December 13 – 14. More than 100 athletes, representing more than 20 countries, blast down the Olympic Track at speeds up to 130 km/h in men and women singles, doubles and sprint races. Tickets are only $10 and children aged 12 or under are free!
Have A Spa Day!
There’s no better way to pray to Ullr than from the comfort of a rooftop hot tub, right? The Spa At Nita Lake Lodge has two! Add to that a whole assortment of award-winning massage and beauty treatments, and it’s clear to see why The Spa At Nita Lake Lodge is a Whistler locals’ favourite. Wait for snow in Whistler while taking advantage of our Spa special: A 60-minute Swedish massage for only $99! (Regular Swedish massage price: $140. Not recommended during pregnancy. Midweek only, valid until December 12. Not available with RMT or with any other package or discount.)
Discover Callaghan Country
If you’re keen to get on snow then this one could be for you. The Nordic ski trails at Callaghan Country are open for business! Discover this lesser-known area of Whistler and explore beginner to advanced XC trails with equipment rentals available on-site. Snowshoeing is also available here with several great trails for all levels of experience. Top tip: Don’t forget your camera!
