Whistler Cornucopia 2019 is upon us with a whole menagerie of tastings, seminars, and events. This is Whistler’s opportunity to showcase the culinary talent present in our little mountain and entice you to experience the wonderful flavours of the West Coast and the wider BC area. As the strapline goes: It’s so wild you can taste it.

Here are 5 of the events that we’re looking forward to most:
Comedy Kitchen at Buffalo Bills
I mostly look forward to the comedy events at Whistler Cornucopia. First on my list is the Comedy Kitchen at Buffalo Bills. It’s a great venue for a relaxing evening, and comedian Jane Stanton is headlining this year. The show is Thursday, November 7 and starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are only $22. Afterward, I recommend checking out Pangea Pod Hotel’s Living Room for a craft cocktail (or two). – Linda (Housekeeping)
‘Made In Japan’ Drink Seminar
I recently traveled to Japan and so I was really excited to learn that Whistler Cornucopia is holding a ‘Made In Japan’ Drink Seminar. It’s on Saturday, November 9 at 2:30 pm at the Whistler Conference Centre. Lara Victoria, a WSET Certified Educator and Judge for the International Wine & Spirit Competition, hosts the event, which promises to be an exploration of the food and drink of this fascinating culture. The promo explains that the focus will be on Japanese beer, sake, shōchū, gin, and whiskey, paired with food samples. Incredible! – Gina (Guest Services)

Sashay, Fillet!
I’ve had my tickets for ‘Sashay, Fillet!’ poised for weeks! This event will mix West Coast culinary talents with the incredible art of drag and is the first of its kind at Whistler Cornucopia. It’s to be held at the Conference Centre on Thursday, November 14 beginning at 8:00 pm and has special guest appearances by RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Jaidynn Diore Fierce and Laila McQueen. The website explains: ‘Event-goers will be encouraged to visit the five delicious canapé stations and sample wine, beer, and spirits in-between all of the action that will unfold on the main catwalk stage in the centre of the room.’ I can’t wait! – Kathryn (Events)
Four Pillars Signature Gin Dinner
I’m really looking forward to attending the Four Pillars Signature Gin Dinner at Aura Restaurant. I’ve been to winemaker dinners in the past as part of Whistler Cornucopia, however, gin-pairings is new to me! Chef James Olberg has created an incredible menu, which includes one of my faves: Brome Lake Duck. In addition to this, the Warm Plum & Custard Tart sounds incredible. The $125 ticket price includes 4 courses with gin pairings, as well as a welcome Four Pillars Bloody Sour. It’s happening Friday, November 15 at 6:30 pm. – Amanda (Spa)

Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational
I literally cannot wait for the Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational and Bloody Caesar Battle! I try to go every year and it’s always my highlight of the whole Whistler Cornucopia celebration. It’s at the Conference Centre on Sunday, November 17. Your ticket includes all refreshments, food, and entertainment, plus a front-row seat to witness the knives fly as oysters are shucked against the clock. You also get to try each Caesar competing in battle. Tickets for this event are hot property so I’d advise purchasing sooner rather than later. You won’t regret it! – Carly (Hotel Manager)
