Whistler is synonymous with skiing. There’s no denying it. However, it’s worth highlighting that there’s so much more to do besides hunting for pow or dropping into couloirs. We decided to hang up our poles and get a different perspective on North America’s largest ski resort.
Forged Axe Throwing
A favourite pastime of ours has to be axe throwing and the guys at Forged know how to have fun! They’re rated a number one activity on TripAdvisor and offer drop-in sessions as well as private bookings. You’ll find them in Function Junction just a few doors down from Coast Mountain Brewing, which just happens to be another favourite pastime of ours…
Coca-Cola® Tube Park
So you’re not big into skiing and boards don’t really do it for you either. Have you considered tubing? Take in the views as you race down the mountain at Whistler Blackcomb’s Coca Cola Tube Park. It’s a fantastic way to blow away the cobwebs and soak up the winter vibe. We’d recommend planning this as an afternoon activity to give the sun a chance to rise and do its thing.
Local Beer Tasting
There are a number of really great beers in Sea-to-Sky country. A beer-tasting is the perfect way to spend a snow day. Some of our favourite flights can be found at Coast Mountain Brewing Company and Whistler Brewing Company. If you’d prefer to stay local, check out Cure Lounge’s rotating taps or head to Brewhouse, where they brew their beers in-house!
The PEAK 2 PEAK Experience
Spanning almost 2 miles and sitting 1,430 feet above the ground, this engineering marvel is both the world’s longest unsupported span and the world’s highest gondola journey. As you can imagine, the views are next level and Instagram-worthy for months to come. The PEAK 2 PEAK experience is up there as a must-do in Whistler, for sure.
Whistler Sliding Center
Whistler’s popularity is owed in part to the Vancouver Winter Olympics of 2010. Whistler Olympic Park now offers great activities for people of all ages & abilities from Nordic skiing to tobogganing. However, one of our favourite activities is the bobsleigh. Hop into a 4-person bobsled and take an adrenaline-fueled ride with a pilot down the world’s fastest track. It’s definitely one for your bucket list!
